It has been several years since I’ve been interviewed by national media, but last month I was interviewed for an article by The New York Times titled “Lessons From a Lost Pet Detective Named Kat.” The article came out yesterday but due to a dispute between Canadian and American news publications (that developed long before tariffs ruined relations between Canada and the US), the article is actually blocked from my sharing it on Facebook! Therefore I am sending my family HERE to read it. You (and my family) can read the article by clicking here.
The fun part of all of this is that the photographer who was hired by the NY Times has granted me permission to use the photos that she took, so here are a few of them. My dogs, Olie the Chiweenie (Chihuahua / Dachushund mix) and Opie (Beagle/Dachshund mix) were amazingly obedient during the photo shoot! Check out these shots:

I am not sure that the NY Times article is going to get much traction or if it will lead to other media, but I am super glad to have great photos of my two dogs!
A fun fact about the Fish Market in the background, this is located on a famous wharf in the town of Sidney, British Columbia (where I shop weekly) that has been used in made-for-TV movies. Because its cheaper for movies to be produced up her in BC than in the states, it is very common to come across production companies filming different TV shows and movies in our area. One day, Johnny and I were at home watching a Christmas movie called The Christmas House 2 and we were like, “Hey, wait a minute…isn’t that the wharf at Beacon Park?” It was, and we also recognized a local diner in that movie where we’ve had breakfast a few times in Sidney.
The last interview that I had (before the NY Times article) was back in 2014 (I think) for Women’s World, yeah, the publication at every grocery store checkout that tells you (in every single publication) how to lose 30 pounds by drinking water and exercising. Thankfully, in the article they published about me (below) they focused on my pet detective work and not on my weight!

Oh, and by the way, I no longer suggest that people “follow your dreams” like the Women’s World article title suggests. I tried that myself and I ended up showing up to give a speech to a big audience wearing only my underwear (and then I woke up).
I suggest that instead of following dreams, people FOLLOW JESUS because THAT has proven to be much more satisfying than following crazy dreams!
Kat! The photos are fantastic. And how wonderful to be in the NYT. Love the advice you gave people—to not lose hope. Congrats and thank you for sharing, my friend. ♥️
How wonderful, Kat!!
